THANK YOU FOR JOINING OUR SURF COMMUNITY

We are happy that you want to continue with Stand Up Paddle Surfing and are very much looking forward to spending lots of time with you on the water! Please read the following information and guidelines before your first training:-)

Have you not yet participated in a 2,5h SUP COURSE, make sure to sign up and join a course before your first training.

FACEBOOK GROUP

Join our Facebook group “CLUB SURF AGENCY” for updates on everything related to our SUP Club (trainings, camps, news, important notices, movie nights and other things) and for a chance to engage in the community. Always feel free to engage and bring up suggestions :-)

JOIN YOUR FIRST TRAINING

Before you go on the water on your own, you have to participate in a CLUB training! Find the event on facebook and click "participating".

Make a post in the group that it is your first training, so the instructor knows :-).

On your first training, come a half hour earlier and we will tell you how things work and give you your access wristband. If you can't make it 30 minutes before the training, let us know and the instructor can give you a tour after the training :-)

NEW MEMBER? THEN READ THIS PLEASE

Get at good entrance in the Club Surf Agency and read following information and guidelines. Then everything will run smooth and easy :-)

HANDLING AND CARE OF THE EQUIPMENT

- The equipment you use is expensive (6-15.000kr), so we take good care of it.

- You are responsible for the equipment you are using, so please use it as if it was your own - SUP equipment can easily get damaged on asphalt. Put the equipment on wood, sand or water. When you need to stop on asphalt, make sure that you handle the equipment with extreme care.

When you carry the SUP equipment, make sure that the leash is not hanging on the ground. Help each other getting the beards in/out of the racks as well as up/down the stairs to the platform. Both to take care of your backs and our boards!!

When you see damages on the equipment, please let us know so we can fix it. - Don’t use boards that are damaged!

WATER

Safety on the water is the most important thing! We play with the elements water and wind and should know how to behave in different weather conditions or emergencies. - When you participate in the SUP Club trainings, you are covered by our insurance. - When you go out besides the trainings, it's your own responsibility. - You need to be able to swim min. 200 meters without a life vest and wetsuit. We don’t require a test. - Always take a life vest when you don’t feel too comfortable in the water. You are allowed to go out by yourself after participating in 1 SUP training.

WIND AND WEATHER

Before you go on the water, make sure you checked the weather forecast! (YR.no, dmi) Generally – We go out to not more than 6m/sec, and never in thunder and lightning!

WETSUIT OR LIFE VEST!!

The law states that you need to bring a vest - so just wear it. We will not police that, it is your own responsibility. However, if you do not wear a vest - for safety, we do require that you wear a wetsuit!

We do not want to see you on the water only with a Bikini or Board shorts!

SUP BOARDS, PADDLES, WASHING AND STORAGE

When you come for a SUP tour outside the trainings and there are boards at the water, first make sure we don't need them for any events before you take them :-)

When you return, you empty the paddle of water, make it as short as possible and put it in its place. Boards should be washed and put back where you took it. The use of SUP board, paddle, leash and vest is included in all memberships - There are certain boards - like our personal race boards - that can not be used. Make sure you know the different boards. There are some descriptions under “files” on the Facebook group.

CLUB FACILITIES

We have a club room, surfers garage, shower rooms and outdoor area that you all can use to ‘hygge’ after or before the training!
In case that the club room is rented out for other events during the training days, we will inform you in advance.

Street shoes stay outside the shower areas! Before everyone is leaving the shower room, make sure that it’s clean. There is a mop in the shower and in the changing room. Just swap roughly over the floor. - In the big changing room just open the window a little bit before you leave. - In the small changing room, leave the last light/ventilation on.

Feel free to use our equipped kitchen before or after the trainings! Especially in the winter times we use it a lot - f.ex. for hygge, coffee & cake and board games :). You can also bring snacks and put it in the fridge.
The rules are pretty simple: Clean up after yourself. Take food out of the fridge before you leave, put your dishes in the dish washing machine or if its full, just clean it, dry it and put it back in the bar.

When we have fresh glasses standing outside, it's probably for our groups that booked an event or for our crew. Just take your own glass from the kitchen. Please also keep the changing facilities clean. We have cleaning tools for the floor in each changing room when the floor is wet. In case you can't find it, just ask the crew :).

WINDDIRECTION IS IMPORTANT

-Wind from the west: Aarhus Bugten is quiet wind protected and sometimes you can still SUP with up to 7-8 m/sec, but stay close to shore! As soon you get more distance to the shore, you get more into the wind-window!

-Wind from east: Already 5 m/sec can be too much on the open sea because the wind is coming on shore. If you feel comfortable with water and are a good swimmer, it’s fun to play with some waves! In the harbour areas it’s quiet wind protected.

-Wind from south: It’s nice to paddle towards the sea with tailwind but it can be very hard to paddle back with headwind. Be aware and make sure you have enough power to paddle against the headwind!

-Wind from north: It’s more safe than south wind, as you paddle first with headwind and it’s easy to get back again, but be aware that the wind direction might change when you are heading out, so never rely on an easy return.

SUP CLUB AMBASSADORS

We give opportunities to pay the SUP Club membership with your knowledge or help! There are days or projects, where we might need your help! Do you have good knowledge in the following fields, and a couple of hours per month to help us? Marketing, social Media, Photography, Video & Film, Organisation, Communication. If so, let’s have a talk :-)

NICE 2 KNOW WHEN YOU ATTEND THE SUP TRAININGS

Be ready dressed to the start-time downstairs in our community area. We always have a small briefing before we go on the water together. If the instructor already posted in the event what boards we are gonna take, please bring the boards already down to the platform and help each other! The waiting time, until all members arrived, is the perfect time to chat and get to know each other or ask for help in preparing the boards or to speak about the different equipment.

SUP TOURS BESIDE TRAININGS

Besides our opening hours, you have access to the location from 05.00 in the morning until 23.00 in the evening.

If you go out when it is dark you need to wear lights! Ask us for recommendations.

FAQ’s

CAN I BRING A FRIEND TO THE TRAININGS?

Yes - we have the cool concept “Bring a Buddy” - The rules for Bring a Buddy: You can bring a friend for free, once a month, for the Sunday-Funday training, not the same friend every time. You have to have participated in at least 3 trainings before bringing a friend - that is because you are responsible for your friend.
You are responsible for your buddy, that means finding a wetsuit, getting them on the water and ready, teach them how to paddle and stand and control the boards, so they are ready to join the training when it begins at 13, so plan at least an hour earlier. Please write in the event for the day that you bring a friend - so the instructor know and can plan accordingly

- You can also go out with your friend outside of the SUP club trainings. In that case your friend can rent a board. More information:https://surfagency.dk/sup-board-udlejning/

CAN I BORROW SUP EQUIPMENT AND TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE?

Generally yes! There are many other beautiful places in and around Aarhus you can explore on a SUP! We also have inflatable boards you can take on a bicycle or bus. Let us know when and where you want to borrow equipment and we check the availability of the equipment.

If you like to take equipment somewhere else for longer than 3 days, you pay the 1/2 price of a daily rental (if available).

I HAVE MY OWN BOARD, CAN I STORAGE IT AT SURF AGENCY?

We have a little space for storage of Race boards - for a small fee, but we are running out of space. Come and talk to us :-)
