Meet the guests: Camilla and Camilla
Two of our most loyal guests are the lovely women we know as the Camilla's. They met each other at a party at the harbour and are now a regular part of the Surf Agency community. That's what we want most about our place: for people to find new spaces and friendships through shared healthy interests.
When Camilla Lilleholt first headed to Surf Agency at Aarhus Marina, she had never tried saunagus before. But now her sister was on a mini holiday in Aarhus and the two decided to try “that saunagus that everyone was talking about”.
- We were a bit excited about how long we could stand the heat in the sauna before we had to get out. But we had Michael (co-owner of Surf Agency, ed.) as our shower master the first time, and he took us by the hand and made the first time a good experience where we both stayed warm and got into the cold water, says Camilla Lilleholt.
Friendships in the heat
It wasn't long before Camilla L. struck up a conversation with another gus guest, Camilla Femmy, and the two started agreeing to come to gus on the same nights.
- One of the great things about Surf Agency is that it encourages you to talk to each other during the breaks and in the time we have afterwards in the sauna. I met Camilla down here and that was the start of a friendship that has resulted in a lot of gus cards used at Surf. We also started winter swimming when it was below freezing, and we went on a weekend trip to Marienlyst, where we cheered on one of Surf Agency's SUP teams competing at the Danish Championships,“ says Camilla L.
Shared enjoyment
For Camilla Femmy, the friendship has also grown beyond the two women's shared joy.
- For me, Camilla has become a good friend who I can talk to about life, both good and bad," she says.
Gus brings peace of mind to everyday life
The saunas have become a big part of both Camilla's everyday life and they prefer to come to the harbour 2-3 times a week.
- It's good for both body and mind. I prefer to go in the evening and take the tranquillity of the shower home with me and go to bed. One of the benefits of saunagus is that my sleep has improved. On the weeks when I only get to the shower once, I can definitely feel that I miss it," says Camilla L.
- The different hosts have their own style and taste in music, but what they all have in common is that I always leave relaxed and calm," Camilla F. adds.
Free space and community
The two friends use Surf Agency as their sanctuary and the community plays a big role.
- “Surf is so sociable that you always meet someone to talk to. There is a down-to-earth and cosy atmosphere. The whole atmosphere at Surf Agency is completely unique, says Camilla F.
Three gus questions for Camilla and Camilla
What does the community mean for the sauna experience and your sauna routine?
Camilla L: It definitely means a lot. It's pretty hard to have a bad day when the first thing you're greeted by is a casting director who knows you and is always ready with a smile.
It's become a habit to come on Wednesdays because a few of us now know each other from down here. I might also sign up for a class if it's a caster I haven't had for a long time, because you get a good relationship with the whole Surf Agency team.
Camilla F: The community you get at “Surf” is super important. Surf Agency is the only place where I can and will go alone - without feeling alone. When you come regularly, you get to build good relationships with several of the surf masters, but also Michael and Finja (owners of Surf Agency, ed.) are unique and warm-hearted people who have created the framework for “Surf” as a free space and a break from everyday life.
You can come early or you can stay a little longer. There's always time for a chat about anything and everything. There's no doubt that some of my favourite memories from 2025 are of days at “Surf” and the people around.
What would you say to others who are considering joining Surf Agency's sauna programme?
Camilla L: I'd say go for it, no matter if there are more of you or if you're by yourself. It's a bit like training, you won't regret the session you went to.
If it's your first time travelling, listen to the advice of the shower master and listen to your body. We've all travelled for the first time, so we couldn't handle as much as we can now. And if you're a freezer like me, it's definitely a plus that there are heated changing rooms and hot showers outside!
Camilla F: Do it! For me, Surf has everything that all the others lack. I always compare other places to what Surf has to offer and everything about Surf is just better. The atmosphere, the people, the buzz, the facilities and the area.
Do you have an extra tip?
Camilla L: Try a cuddle with one of the owners, Michael and Finja. You can't help but feel how much life, heart and soul they've put into the place. For them, it's not just a business, it's their hobby and labour of love.
Camilla F: For example, come on Wednesdays if you want to make new friends from the SUP surf team. When Camilla L. and I started having a regular Wednesday routine, we often bumped into the SUP team who participated in gus after their training. Mads from the SUP team has now also become a good friend with whom we coordinate gus days.
Space for both socialising and relaxation
Whether you want to be an active part of the community or you just want to enjoy a drink with yourself in the company of others, you are welcome at the harbour.
