The sauna was very comfortable, and the atmosphere was calm and impressively clean.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was excellent from start to finish.
A truly great experience, and I will definitely come back again 🌊🔥
Biggest recommendation from here ☀️🌊🏄♀️
The atmosphere was so good and her use of words about dreams gave such an amazing feeling inside. It was great to feel how we connected because of the atmosphere and to see that we were all sitting with big smiles and moving to the music!
Such a cool concept 😍😍😍
I went to GrooveGus with two friends. We were warmly welcomed and hot tea was waiting for us.
The infusions were carefully chosen with appropriate music, it was great fun! Host Finja was very attentive, I felt completely comfortable and will definitely come again! 🫶🏻
The atmosphere is simply soothing!
You get everything you could hope for 😀 Lovely saunas with essential oils guided by super staff. During breaks you can get something refreshing and dip yourself in a cold water pool as needed. Super centrally located with a view of Aarhus Ø. Definitely worth a visit. Not the last time I'll be there!

The place has a great location right next to the boats at Aarhus harbour with a beautiful view out to Aarhus Ø.
Been there many times and will return many times 🙏🏻
Huge recommendation from here.
Really cosy atmosphere, and incredibly comfortable Gus - it was good for both body and soul.
I will definitely come again - a good break from a busy day is definitely a good game of SaunaGus
Quiet, cosy and welcoming with room for everyone.
Great facilities 🙂
Great atmosphere and really nice and well put together gus, perfect end to the weekend in Aarhus.
There was really nice music that
suited the atmosphere. The surroundings and facilities were good with showers, changing rooms and a cosy little oasis outside with hot tub and sauna. All in all, a really good experience - I must make it a regular part of a week to “go to the sauna gus”! 🔥😉 HUGE HUGE recommendation to Surf Agency🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
We got a thorough introduction and our instructor was nice ☺️
The instructors were really skilful and attentive. They were good at spotting if someone was unsure and provided relevant technique tips or a helping hand if you needed it. This created a safe and comfortable atmosphere on the water. We also appreciated that they took photos along the way, so we have good memories of the day.
After the activities, we cosy up in front of your premises with a beer/soda and talked about the day's experiences. Everyone said it had been a super fun and cosy afternoon, and it seemed like everyone had a great time - regardless of experience.
Thank you so much for a successful experience - we will gladly recommend SURF Agency to others and will gladly return another time!
Great service 👏🏽
Thank you for a fantastic team event. Everyone on the team had a great day, now with a backpack full of wonderful experiences together as a team.
Thank you for the 2 lovely employees who were with us on the water, they had planned the day just the way we wanted it. 👌
It was a great experience and the staff were very experienced. The short course was enough to get started.
It was really good to sail along Risskov and relax a bit. However, we both felt some new muscles in our arms when we got home.
Highly recommended
I've been on an intro course with a competent and skilled instructor. It was great fun and got everyone involved
Both times we experienced dedicated trainers who challenged us with great exercises and laughed with and at us while we splashed around in the water;-)
Very big recommendations from here and happy summer to jer☀️

How it works
A sauna shower at
Surf Agency
A saunagus at Surf Agency is a guided experience in warmth, scents and calm - in the centre of Aarhus, but with the feeling of being far away from the pace of everyday life. Here's what you can expect:
75 minutes Including breaks. 3 gus rounds 10-12 minutes each. Between rounds we take about 5 minutes break, where you can dip yourself in cold water trolley or cool down under our outdoor showers. Finally, we'll round things off with either an extra bonus gus round or Free sauna cosiness, where you can sit and enjoy the warmth and socialise with the other guests.
Arrival and calm start-up
You arrive about 10 minutes before the start and get changed in our heated facilities with separate changing rooms and hot showers - both inside and out. In the lounge, we offer tea, water and juice so you can settle down and relax before the race begins
Guided essential oil shower rounds
The sauna-gost session itself consists of three rounds of approximately 10-12 minutes each, where the gust master uses 3 different essential oils in each round. The warm scents are gently spread using a towel technique, creating an intense yet balanced warmth that stimulates both body and mind.
Cold chills and breaks between rounds
Between rounds you can cool down with a dip in our chilled cold water tub, under the cold water cascade or in one of our outdoor or indoor showers - with both hot and cold water. Breaks are important to balance the experience and give your body time to catch up.
Free sauna and joint finish
We finish with approximately 15 minutes of free sauna. Many relax in silence, while others share the experience with those around them. You are welcome to enjoy a delicious cold beer (from Humleland) which can be purchased with polite MobilePay self-service from our fridge.
Why we love Saunagus
There's a special atmosphere just as the door to the sauna closes.
Saunagus is one of the few places where the body is allowed to take centre stage - and where the mind can let go. The heart rate increases, the blood moves, and something in us calms down while we feel ourselves more clearly.
We love saunagus because it feels like a modern ritual.
A space where we sit together without masks, performance or expectations. Just people, warmth and presence.
Every gus is different. Some days it's gentle and enveloping. Other days more intense and powerful. The body reacts, regulates and finds its own rhythm - and that's what makes the experience alive.
We love that saunagus teaches us to Feel instead of pushing ourselves.
Listening to your body's signals.
Being curious about what happens when we let go of control.
And then there's the community. The collective calm. The silence. The breathing that falls in time.
A kind of presence that has become rare in an everyday life filled with noise and pace.
✨ We love saunagus - because it feels real. Because it feels alive. And because, quite simply, it feels good.
First time to Saunagus?
Come alone, with friends - or as a couple. At Surf Agency, we guide you safely through a Sensuous sauna experience, where heat, steam and scent fill the room and music creates calm and presence. Our saunagus takes place in a Friendly, calm and inclusive community, where there is room for both silence and small conversations. You are met exactly where you are.
💧 Hydrate your body - The body can sweat 0.5-1 litre during a shower.
🍽 Eat light - A small snack 1-2 hours before is perfect.
🧘♂️ Move slowly - Switch calmly between benches and cold dips.
🌡 Choose your seat - Lower benches generate less heat and you can always move up.
❄️ Cold depths are optional - You decide the pace and intensity.
Before the gus starts, the gus master guides you in Simple techniques and signals, so you can customise the experience on the go:
🙌 Less heat: hands up in front of the face or a small shake of the head
🔥 More warmth: lift your hands up behind your head
For the vast majority, saunagus is Deeply comfortable, relaxing and good for the body.
At the same time, the body can react differently - these are signals you can pay attention to. The reaction depends on your day, hydration, sleep, stress level and experience with heat. The essence is to Listen to your body and adjust the experience, so it always feels safe and comfortable.
What to bring: 2 towels, swimwear, flip-flops and water bottle. Tip: a saunagus hat or woollen cap can make the experience extra comfortable.
✨ Remember: Saunagus is not something you have to “do”. It's an experience that is moulded in interaction with your body - and each time can feel different.
What is Saunagus - And what isn't it?
Saunagus is a guided sauna experience where water - often with essential oils - is poured onto hot stones. Steam, scent and heat are distributed by a shower master, while music and atmosphere create a sensory experience for body and mind.
Saunagus originates from the German Infusion - “to pour” - and is a ritual focused on wellbeing, pauses and presence.
No two saunagus are alike.
The experience can be calm and meditative, energetic and warming or characterised by scent, music and flow. Sometimes gentle, sometimes more intense - always with room for pauses and respect for the body.
At Surf Agency, one session lasts 75 minutes with 3 rounds, Cold dips, hot showers and time to land calmly along the way and after.
What isn't it?
🚫 Not a competition
🚫 Nothing you have to push through
🚫 Not a medical treatment
Saunagus is about feeling - not enduring.
It's something you need to feel.
Is Saunagus healthy?
We love saunas and it gives us a lot of peace and energy in our everyday lives - both to enjoy it ourselves and to give all our guests a wonderful experience with wellness for body and mind.
But what we experience on our body and soul is one thing, and what the research says is another. It's not necessarily clear-cut when it comes to health benefits, and new knowledge is constantly emerging.
Research on sauna, heat and cold points to possible links with circulation, stress response and wellbeing. At the same time, several studies emphasise that the effects are individual and depend on context, duration and the person's starting point.
In addition, expectations and experience play a role - what is often called the placebo effect, but which in practice is a real bodily response.
Saunagus can therefore be experienced as meaningful and rewarding without having to explain it with a specific mechanism.
Anecdotally and unscientifically, we here at Surf Agency's saunagus team can 100% vouch for the fact that the gus experiences provide us with an invaluable offline respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and plenty of wellbeing and new energy for the daily grind.
Come down to the harbour and enjoy the warmth of the sauna and the cold of the cold water tub and make up your own mind! Because saunas with us are all about personalised wellness, so there's always room for your own version - whether it's leaving the sauna a little earlier or just dipping your toe in the cold water tub. It's all about wellness for you!
What type of Gus are you?
Bodies react differently to heat - and needs can change from day to day.
Some prefer gentle warmth and tranquillity.
Others thrive with more rhythm and energy.
And some seek the more intense.
No one approach is more right than others.
The differences are not about level, but about preferences, tolerance and daily behaviour.
In practice, this means that many people switch between different gus styles. The same person may need something completely different from week to week.
Saunas at Surf Agency vary in theme, style, energy and heat intensity. This allows you to choose the experience that best suits you and your mood.
When you book, you can see in the calendar which type of gus is offered.
What happens in the body during saunagus?
When you participate in saunagus, your body is exposed to Heat as a controlled stress impact.
Heat causes the heart rate to increase, blood vessels to dilate and sweat production to increase. This is the body's natural way of regulating temperature. At the same time, the nervous system is activated - first with increased alertness and energy, and for many, subsequently with calmness and relaxation.
👉 A short, controlled load followed by recovery.
When stress levels are right - neither too little nor too much - the body has the opportunity to exercise its ability to regulate itself. It's not the intensity itself that matters, but How you face it and whether your body is allowed to adjust along the way.
That's why saunagus are typically built with:
- Variation in heat
- Breaks between rounds
- Possibility to regulate (go out, sit lower, select cold off)
For some, it feels like deep peace.
For others, intensity and clarity.
And for many, a clear transition from “head” to “body”.
FAQ Saunagus
Saunagus is a wellness experience that is becoming increasingly popular in Denmark. While the gus guests sit in the sauna, a gus master guides them through the relaxing experience. She pours essential oils and water onto the hot sauna stones and the temperature rises in the sauna.
The shower master waves a towel or fan to spread the heat and aromas around, giving each participant a more intense and pleasant experience.
A saunagus usually consists of three rounds of gus, between which you can cool your body in cold water.
Saunas are said to help relax muscles, improve blood circulation and reduce stress.

Sauna gus can be a welcome break in a busy day. The gus allows you to simply focus on your body and breathing in silence. The subsequent cooling down provides a wonderfully refreshing sensation. Gus enthusiasts experience a great sense of well-being and relaxation in the body after a sauna shower.
Much research suggests that cold baths and saunas can help prevent illness and generally relax the body and reduce stress. Among other things, it is mentioned in a research study in the professional magazine The Nurse.
Saunagus is all about wellbeing, so it shouldn't be uncomfortable for any participant. It's always okay to leave the sauna if you get too hot and your body needs a break.
Focusing on deep breathing can help you stay warmer for longer and get the most out of the gusher.
We use a range of natural essential oils with different scents, such as orange, cedarwood and lavender. It is up to the shower master which three different oils are used on the three showers that make up a saunagus event. All the oils are approved for food use. We also use menthol crystals from time to time, which gives a very fresh and cleansing sensation.
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that contain the natural, fragrant substances of plants, flowers or trees. They are typically extracted through steam distillation or cold pressing. Each oil has its own scent and properties - for example, lavender can be relaxing and peppermint invigorating. They are used in everything from aromatherapy and massage to skincare and sauna, and can provide both physical and mental wellbeing.rdion Content
Essential oils add an extra dimension to the gus experience.
When the essential oils are mixed with water and poured onto the hot stones in the sauna, the scent and vapours are released. This affects the senses and can create a calming or revitalising feeling depending on the oil. Some essential oils, such as eucalyptus and tea tree, can help open the airways. Many essential oils also have skin conditioning properties.
Saunas can affect hydration because you sweat a lot during the heat and your body loses water and minerals like sodium and potassium.
It is therefore important to stay properly hydrated after a sauna session. Drink water, juice or even electrolytes to maintain a good fluid balance after your sauna session - even during the cool-down breaks between each session.
When the heat in the sauna rises, it can provoke a strong reaction in the body. Deep, calm breathing can calm the body while it gets used to the heat. The shower master can advise and guide you in this.
If you still feel your body is under too much pressure, you are welcome to leave the sauna and take a cold dip or shower.
As you try saunagus more times, you may experience a greater tolerance to the heat.
For a sauna shower, the shower master makes sure the sauna is ready and decides which essential oils to use on the shower. After pouring the oil and water onto the sauna stones, the gus master distributes the heat in the sauna by waving a towel or a large fan. Along the way, she can guide participants on the scent and effects of the oils, as well as how to control their breathing to maximise the benefits of the shower.
The sauna shower is a time for calm and contemplation. Therefore, participants are quiet during the shower while the shower master only briefly explains the essential oils used for the sauna shower and may guide breathing as the heat rises.
If you want the shower master to apply extra heat to your body, raise your arms and place them behind your neck. If you don't want more heat, bring your hands up in front of your face.
During the breaks between gus, where you cool your body in cold water, you can chat with your gus mates.
In most places you wear a swimsuit.
