At Surf Agency you get a very special saunagus experience, which differs from most other places. There is a maximum of eight participants per saunagus to create a cosy and intimate experience.

- We want to create a personalised atmosphere where everyone can relax and be themselves, whether you're coming to saunagus for the very first time or are an experienced gus-goer," says Michael Allman, who runs Surf Agency with his partner Finja Götz.

Holistic experience at the centre

The two designed the saunagus event with a desire to provide guests with a nourishing holistic experience. 

- We want to give people a relaxing and energising respite from their busy lives. They should be able to lean into the full experience, where we take care of them from start to finish. Sauna is great, but it can also be a bit demanding on the body when you sweat out so many salts and minerals," says Michael. 

That's why the hosts make sure that guests don't go home feeling dehydrated later in the evening. After each gus session, they offer complimentary juice, tea and electrolytes so that participants can rehydrate after sweating in the sauna.  

Get dressed indoors and start with a cup of tea

Before the sauna shower starts, everyone starts with a cosy introduction and a free cup of tea in the party room. Here, participants meet and the shower master gives a short briefing on what to expect. 

- It's important that the participants feel comfortable from the start. The whole experience begins with the first introduction, where there is time to settle in," says Michael. 

Indoor changing facilities are available to make the start of your sauna experience comfortable and convenient. 

Saunagus is healthy wellness

The Saunagus event lasts 75 minutes where the gus master leads the participants through three gus sessions. Each session lasts around eight minutes and is performed with two to three different essential oils poured onto the hot sauna stones. The shower master uses a fan to distribute the heat and scent so that all participants can enjoy the focused flow of sauna heat through the body. 

- Warmth and scent create a special atmosphere, and we use quiet music to support the experience. We take great care in putting together the playlist to suit each round and support the atmosphere we want," says Michael. 

Between hot shower sessions, participants can cool off in the cold water tub, under the cold shower bucket or at the outdoor showers. 

- The change between heat and cold is an important part of the experience. It enhances the relaxing effect, says Michael, and points out that Danish Research showsSauna followed by a cold dip can help prevent lifestyle diseases because it reduces inflammation in the body.

Wellness under the open sky in Aarhus

In between sessions, participants can relax in the outdoor wellness area. Here you can enjoy a small fire and candles while you cool down or socialise with the other participants. The location at Aarhus Marina provides an atmospheric sea view in the middle of an urban environment.

- Our desire is to offer more than just a sauna experience. It's about creating a place where people feel welcome and relaxed from the moment they enter. And if any questions arise along the way, the shower master is always available," says Michael.
